“An annual event. We love this small campground ”
“My site was fairly close to the river so I could hear it. It is quite dark in the Camp Sherman area so star gazing is good. I was a 5 min. walk from the store so I could get my coffee and breakfast scone in the morning.”
“Lovely campground. We stay here or close every year - Sisters is close and such a great little town .. ”

Camp Sherman Campground sits along the clear, cold banks of the Metolius River, where the stream issues from Metolius Springs at the base of Black Butte (a 3,076-foot cinder cone) and runs north through a mosaic of conifer forest and volcanic terrain. Many sites look out toward the river, and the sound of flowing water is a constant backdrop to the forest setting; mule deer, coyotes and the occasional cougar use the same stands of trees, while native fish and migratory birds are common sights for anglers and birdwatchers. On-site recreation centers on hiking, biking and fishing anglers come here to fly-fish for rainbow trout, whitefish, bull trout and kokanee salmon and the broader Deschutes National Forest adds options from auto-touring and boating to horseback riding and winter sports. For longer routes, the Metolius Windigo Trail begins near the river headwaters and extends more than 100 miles, offering everything from short riverside walks to multi-day rides and treks. Practical details are straightforward: Total campsites: 14 13 Both RV Sites & Tent Sites and 1 Tent Site and each site includes a picnic table and a campfire ring. There are vault toilets and drinking water on site but no electrical hookups, so RVs can be accommodated but will need to go off-grid for power. Showers are not provided at the campground, but public showers are available in the town of Camp Sherman less than two miles away. The campground is accessed from Highway 20 via Forest Road 14 and Forest Road 1419, a short distance north of Camp Sherman and roughly ten miles northwest of Sisters; check Recreation.gov for current fees, seasonal availability and to make reservations. Note the reservation policy: once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager can modify your reservation, so plan arrivals and changes accordingly.
