“Large campsites in old growth forrest. Very clean rest rooms. Great (but slow) restaurant a short walk. Pay showers.”

Fish Lake Campground sits on the north shore of Fish Lake at about 4,639 feet elevation, surrounded by old-growth forest and within easy reach of the lake's calm water. The campground contains 20 sites in total 17 that accommodate both RVs and tents and 3 reserved for tent camping only with room for trailers and motorhomes at the mixed sites. Basic but important amenities are provided: drinking water, flush toilets with wash basins, picnic tables, grills, and a fish-cleaning station. A historic picnic shelter on site can be used without reservations, and there's a boat launch inside the campground (another launch is at the nearby Fish Lake Resort). The lake itself is a 483-acre reservoir fed by more than 45 underground volcanic streams and operated with a 10 mph speed limit for boats, so paddling and low-speed motor boating are practical options here. Recreation radiates outward from the shoreline: anglers can work the reservoir, swimmers and paddlers can use the relatively quiet water, and the forest roads and trails invite biking and day hikes. Fish Lake Trail, High Lakes Trail, Brown Mountain Trail and a short connection to the Pacific Crest Trail are right in the neighborhood; Sky Lakes Wilderness and the Mount McLoughlin trail system are less than an hour's drive. The southern shore offers good views of Mount McLoughlin and sits beside an approximately 2,000-year-old lava flow from Brown Mountain, while the northern shore is where the campground, a second nearby campground, and Fish Lake Resort cluster. Fish Lake Campground is adjacent to but not part of Fish Lake Resort, which provides a convenience store, café and lodging within walking distance. Access is via OR-140 (Lake of the Woods Highway) east of Medford and, if coming from Klamath Falls, the campground is about 4 miles past Lake of the Woods; for facility-specific information, seasonal conditions, fees or reservations call (541) 560-3400.
