“Outhouse is unusable., completely covered in thousands of flys. The camp host was pushy nut job that couldn't remember talking to us the day before. Then she squawked about an extra car when it is nowhere on the internet reservation system at all.”

On the north side of Fish Lake in the Rogue River Siskiyou National Forest, North Fork Campground is a compact, old-growth forested site reached from OR-140 (Lake of the Woods Highway) via a short spur on Forest Road 37. The campground contains nine campsites in total: eight sites are sized to accommodate both RVs and tents and one site is tent-only, so it can work for a small motorhome or a family with tents but does not provide the scale of larger forest campgrounds. Facilities are minimal and straightforward a vault toilet and a source of drinking water are on site so plan on a primitive camping experience without assuming hookups or additional services. Because this listing does not include fee, reservation or seasonal details, call the local office at (541) 560-3400 before you go to confirm current fees, reservation policies and seasonal access conditions. Recreation radiates outward from the campground: Fish Lake, fed by more than 45 underground volcanic streams, is a few miles away and offers a low-speed (10 m.p.h.) boating environment ideal for fishing, kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding; a public boat launch is nearby. The broader area provides extensive hiking options, from Fish Lake Trail and Brown Mountain routes to long-distance opportunities on the Pacific Crest Trail and approaches into the Sky Lakes Wilderness and toward Mount McLoughlin. If you want a few services after a day on the water, Fish Lake Resort a short drive has a cafe, a small store and firewood for sale. Beyond lake recreation, the Rogue River Siskiyou National Forest supports a wide range of outdoor activities (biking, wildlife viewing, hunting, winter sports, OHV routes and more), so North Fork works well as a low-key basecamp for anglers, hikers and those seeking quiet forest access.
