“I’ve never appreciated the gorgeous trees around the lake as much as this time - now we know if it is windy, you don’t even feel it! It was lovely and we were even able to star gaze 👍🏼”
“End of the season camping is great with few people in the campground. It was quiet and very little activity. ”
“Quiet, shady camp spots and great trail for riding bikes”

Doe Point Campground sits in an old-growth stand on the northern shore of Fish Lake, about 39 miles east of Medford along OR-140 (Lake of the Woods Highway), at roughly 4,639 feet elevation. The campground offers 30 sites in total: 25 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents (and trailers) and 5 tent-only sites. Each campsite includes a picnic table and a metal fire ring; the loop is served by drinking water and flush toilets with wash basins. Fish Lake itself is a 483-acre reservoir fed by many underground volcanic streams; its southern shore opens onto clear views of Mount McLoughlin and a 2,000-year-old lava flow from Brown Mountain. Fish Lake Resort is within easy walking distance from the campground and provides a convenience store, a cafe and lodging, and there are boat launches both at the Day Use Area and at the resort (the lake has a 10 mph speed limit). Outdoor opportunities start right at the campground biking, fishing, swimming and paddle boating are common in and around the lake, and several trailheads are readily accessed from Doe Point, including Fish Lake Trail, High Lakes Trail, Brown Mountain Trail and, a little farther out, links to the Pacific Crest Trail. If you want longer backcountry outings, the Sky Lakes Wilderness and the Mount McLoughlin trail system are under an hour's drive. Adjacent Fish Lake Campground and nearby North Fork Campground provide more options, and Lake of the Woods Resort is about 8 miles east for additional dining, swimming and boat access; Crater Lake National Park is approximately 53 miles to the north. The Rogue River Siskiyou National Forest supports many other activities auto touring, horseback riding, winter sports, wildlife viewing and more so seasonal conditions and service levels can vary; for facility-specific information, fees, reservations and current access status call (541) 865-2735 before you go.
