“Typical national park campground. The biggest issue we had was that we expected to be able to fill our water tank, and also dump our grey and black tanks. These were up the road 5 miles at another campground, which we didn't realize until we were parked and set up.”

Lagoon Campground sits low on the coast at about 100 feet elevation, tucked along the Siltcoos Lagoon and Siltcoos River roughly 7 8 miles south of Florence off Highway 101 at the Siltcoos Beach Access Road. The campground has 37 sites all configured to accommodate both RVs and tents and most sites are sheltered by shore pine and huckleberry that give the loops a shrubby, coastal feel. Practical comforts are solid: paved parking aprons, flush toilets, potable drinking water, picnic tables, recycling and trash collection, and metal fire rings with grills. There's no on-site dump station, but one is available less than five miles away at Honeyman State Park. Note the reservation policy: campsites not occupied within 24 hours of the arrival time are treated as a no-show and released; if you expect to arrive late, call the ranger station at 541-271-6000 to notify staff. The setting opens onto several short, wildlife-rich trails and a nearby beach, so the campground feels small and walkable rather than remote. A short, accessible loop called the Lagoon Trail follows boardwalks through wetland habitat for strong chances of seeing beavers, ducks, herons and bitterns, while the 1.3-mile Waxmyrtle Trail on the south side of the river delivers broad views across the lower Siltcoos estuary to the Pacific; the Chief Tsiltcoos Trail is also within easy reach. Anglers can expect rainbow trout in the lagoon during winter and spring, and Siltcoos Lake supports bass, steelhead, cutthroat trout, yellow perch and bluegill; boating is available on Tahkenitch and Siltcoos lakes. The campground is inside the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, where wind-sculpted dunes rise as high as 500 feet and off-highway vehicle routes, horseback riding, biking, interpretive programs and other forest recreation opportunities are nearby, making Lagoon a practical base for both short nature walks and more active dune or lake adventures.
