“Tyee is great for launching kayaks to paddle the Siltcoos river there. Otherwise it's pretty minimal for a campground. Bring your own water. ”
“a bit close to Hwy 1 but otherwise a great campground”
“This our favorite place to camp at the coast”

Tyee Campground sits about 6 miles south of Florence, off Highway 101, on the north bank of the Siltcoos River where the river begins its run from Siltcoos Lake toward the ocean. The site is small and managed there are exactly 14 campsites, each configured to accommodate both tents and RVs, and all are available by reservation only. Campsites offer a picnic table and a fire ring with a grill, and paved parking aprons make backing an RV easier; drinking water and vault toilets are provided. Utility hookups are not listed for this campground, and a public dump station is located roughly 4 miles away at Honeyman State Park. If your arrival time changes, note the campground's no-show policy: sites not occupied within 24 hours of the scheduled arrival time may be released, so call the ranger station at (541) 271-6000 to notify staff if you expect a late check-in. The riverfront setting is the campground's strong suit for active families and anglers: there's a boat ramp on site and plenty of easy water access for launching kayaks or casting from the bank, with coho salmon and panfish among the fishing opportunities. Hikers and beachgoers can reach expansive coastal beaches and explore the dune formations that are part of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area the largest coastal dune system in North America while birdwatchers can expect shorebirds and waterfowl and the occasional bald eagle; Roosevelt elk are also known to roam in the broader area. Beyond the campground, the Siuslaw National Forest supports a wide range of activities including boating (Tahkenitch Lake and Siltcoos Lake nearby), hiking, off-highway vehicle trails at South Jetty, horseback riding, interpretive programs, and other outdoor pursuits, so Tyee works well as a base for a varied coastal trip.
