“The camp host is very polite and helpfull. We have been using this campground for many years. The only complaint we have is the plumbing is almost always out of order.”
“We go to Driftwood every year to ride the incredible sand dunes and walk by the ocean. Love it there. And now, the campground has free showers which is very appreciated. ”

Driftwood Campground sits where the coastal dunes of the Siuslaw National Forest meet direct sand access to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, and its layout reflects that focus: a large paved parking area with 67 designated campsites arranged around it. Most of those sites 57 in total are set up to serve both RVs and tents, while 10 sites are RV-only pull-throughs (sites 49 58) and do not include picnic tables or campfire rings. Expect a developed campground experience rather than dispersed beach camping: most sites have a picnic table and campfire ring, and the campground provides flush toilets, potable drinking water, and trash and recycling collection. The campground sits a short drive south of Florence along Highway 101 and the Siltcoos Beach Access Road; if your plans change, be aware of the reservation/no-show policy sites not occupied within 24 hours of the scheduled arrival time may be released, so call the ranger station at (541) 271-6000 to notify staff if you expect to arrive late or need facility-specific information. What brings most people here is the riding: Driftwood is an off-road-vehicle oriented site with the Driftwood II ORV route beginning at the campground and threading north into a broad area of open dunes that extends toward South Jetty Road, plus nearby staging at South Jetty for additional riding. Non-motorized options are close at hand as well the Waxmyrtle Trail follows the Siltcoos River to the beach, the Lagoon Trail circles Lagoon Campground, and the Siltcoos Lake Trail and Taylor Dunes Trail run along Highway 101 while Siltcoos Lake itself offers bass, cutthroat and rainbow trout fishing and canoe or kayak access to the river. Beachcombing, swimming, sunbathing, and seabird-watching are easy day activities from camp, and whales are sometimes visible offshore in season. Driftwood's mix of coastal vegetation shore pine, waxmyrtle, huckleberry and salal and proximity to both river and ocean mean you'll have a good chance of wildlife viewing as well; beyond the dune riding, the broader Siuslaw National Forest supports biking, boating, horseback riding, interpretive programs and other outdoor pursuits.
