“A great campground anytime of the year! Spaces 1-12 are quite barren now due to the removal of some trees and underbrush.”
“Always a great time at Farewell Bend. It's beautiful ”

Farewell Bend Campground sits among old-growth conifers along the Upper Rogue River, on OR-62 (the Crater Lake Highway) roughly 15 18 miles west of Crater Lake National Park and just a short drive from the small community of Union Creek. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1934, the site still shows that historic footprint while offering modern conveniences: there are 56 campsites, each configured to accommodate both tents and RVs or trailers, with picnic tables, campfire rings, flush toilets and drinking water on site. Firewood can be purchased from the campground host, and Union Creek Resort less than a mile away provides a convenience store, restaurant, ice cream shop and additional lodging if you need resupply or a meal out. The Rogue River threads through the campground, providing immediate access for fishing and swimming where the river runs shallower and swifter in this upper stretch. Recreation at Farewell Bend blends short, accessible hikes with significant geological sights. The Upper Rogue River Trail, a hiker-only route that follows much of the river's length, is suitable for easy day walks, and the Rogue Gorge Trail System links Farewell Bend with Union Creek Campground and the Natural Bridge Day Use Area for longer outings. Interpretive trails at Rogue Gorge and Natural Bridge explain how the river has cut more than 200 feet into Mazama pumice and then funnels through black lava, briefly disappearing into a lava tube for about 250 feet at Natural Bridge. Beyond the campground, the surrounding Rogue River Siskiyou National Forest supports a wide range of activities from auto touring the Rogue-Umpqua Scenic Byway to fishing, wildlife viewing, horseback riding, boating and winter sports and nearby destinations include Diamond Lake Resort, Lost Creek Lake, National Falls and Mount McLoughlin.
