“Great overall experience. Beautiful river, sites are separated enough so you don’t hear everything your neighbors say. ”

Eagle Rock Campground sits on the bank of the Wild and Scenic North Umpqua River in a stand of old-growth Douglas firs mixed with deciduous trees, roughly 50 miles east of Roseburg on Highway 138 (the North Umpqua Highway). The site footprint is small and straightforward: 27 total campsites, all configured to serve both RVs and tents, arranged in one loop of 16 reservable sites and the remainder available on a first-come, first-served basis. Roads and spurs inside the campground are paved, and every campsite comes with a picnic table and a fire ring; three double vault toilets are spaced through the campground. A majority of sites have direct river access, making it simple to drop a line or step down to the water. When you arrive pay attention at the fee kiosk reserving vehicles and extra camping units have separate charges: $5.00 per additional vehicle per day (must be paid at the campground fee kiosk upon arrival) and $10.00 per night for additional camping units. The campground is a practical base for a broad range of Umpqua National Forest activities: fly fishing for salmon and steelhead on the North Umpqua, whitewater rafting and swimming in warmer months, plus hiking and mountain biking on the 79-mile North Umpqua Trail, which has multiple trailheads near Eagle Rock. Late spring and early summer bring the highest flows for boating, while drier months are better for long rides or day hikes. Nearby Twin Lakes offers picnic and wildlife-viewing opportunities, and longer drives connect you to Crater Lake National Park and the Rogue Umpqua National Scenic Byway, which traverses dramatic river corridors, lava flows and mixed forest landscapes. The forest as a whole supports diverse wildlife from eagles to salamanders and offers additional recreation such as auto touring, climbing, horseback riding, OHV use, and overnight stays in historic fire lookouts or cabins Eagle Rock's combination of riverfront sites, paved access for RVs, and close trailheads makes it a convenient spot whether you're after a day on the water or multi-day exploration of the North Umpqua corridor.
