Bunker Hill Campground sits on the northwest shore of Lemolo Lake under a stand of lodgepole pines, where bald eagles and other forest birds are a common sight above the water. The lake is the real draw here: pockets of deep water reaching about 100 feet in places support German brown, eastern brook and rainbow trout as well as kokanee salmon, so anglers launch from boats or fish from the small beaches. Boating, kayaking, canoeing, swimming and even water skiing are regular summer activities; nearby Lemolo Falls Trail drops steeply into the North Umpqua Canyon to a 150-foot cascade for hikers who want a waterfall reward. The broader Umpqua National Forest and the Rogue-Umpqua National Scenic Byway offer miles of river canyons, lava-formed landscapes and additional outdoor options climbing, mountain biking, horseback riding and auto touring if you want to explore beyond the lake. The campground itself is tiny and simple: five standard sites in total, and each site is configured to accept both RVs and tents. All sites include a picnic table, campfire ring and grill, but facilities are minimal only vault toilets are provided and there is no drinking water on site, so you should bring your own supply. Sites are available by reservation only, and there's a $5 extra-vehicle fee that must be paid at the campground fee kiosk upon arrival. Access is remote: plan on roughly a 72-mile drive east from Roseburg on OR-138 toward Diamond Lake, then a few miles on forest roads across Lemolo Lake Dam to reach the northwest shore where the campground sits.
