Crescent Creek Campground is a small, quiet site on the eastern slopes of the Cascade Range, about 9 miles west of the small community of Crescent via County Road 61/Crescent Cut-off Road. The loop holds just nine campsites, and each site is set up to accommodate either an RV or a tent; there are no water or electrical hookups, so rigs should be self-contained. Every campsite includes a picnic table and a metal campfire ring with an attached grill, and the campground is served by vault toilets rather than flushed facilities. Because the campground sits a bit apart from other developed sites, expect a low-key atmosphere framed by a lodgepole pine forest with stands of mountain hemlock, fir and spruce; you'll commonly see deer and migratory birds and benefit from one of the more productive wildlife areas in central Oregon. Recreation is focused on the lakes and trails nearby rather than on-site programming: Crescent Lake, Odell Lake and Davis Lake are all close enough for day trips and are popular for boating, fishing and swimming, while the Summit Lake Trail draws hikers and mountain bikers wanting views that include Diamond Peak. The campground also serves as a convenient base for exploring the South Cascade Lakes, the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway (the 66-mile route that climbs through alpine terrain), and regional attractions such as the Lava Lands Visitor Center and Newberry National Volcanic Monument. If you need to change plans after arrival, note the reservation policy: once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation. For current fees, seasonal openings and any route restrictions for larger vehicles, check Recreation.gov or the Deschutes National Forest pages before you go.
