“Crescent lake is our favorite. Also loved this campground so close to good swimming spots. ”
“Cool spot, close to the lake. Bathrooms were clean & everyone was friendly. My only complaint is the mosquitoes. Come prepared.”
“We stayed Monday - Thursday and it was quiet and relaxing. We did some paddleboarding on the Lake and enjoyed the sunshine. You have to try the Broasted Chicken at Manley's Tavern - it's the best! ”

Spring Campground sits on the shore of Crescent Lake in Deschutes National Forest, occupying a sunny, open stand of mixed conifers that leaves room between sites for privacy and lake views. The campground contains 62 sites in total 57 that accommodate both RVs and tents and five tent-only sites, several of which are right on the lakeshore for easy access to sand and water. Sites are widely spaced and furnished with picnic tables and campfire rings with grills; vault toilets and drinking water are on site, and a nearby resort on Crescent Lake provides lodging and a small general store if you need supplies. Larger groups can reserve a block of 12 sites that are somewhat separated from the main loop and together can hold about 70 campers and 25 vehicles. Some campsites can be reserved in advance while others operate on a first-come, first-served basis; note that once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation. Spring is accessed from the Crescent area via the network of Highway 58 and Forest Road 60, placing it within the Cascade Lakes corridor west of Crescent, Oregon. Activity options at Spring and on Crescent Lake span seasons: summer and early fall are best for boating, swimming, hiking, biking and fishing anglers chase kokanee salmon, mackinaw, rainbow and brown trout, and mountain whitefish while winter brings skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling with the Crescent Lake Snowpark serving as a base for outings. The Summit Lake Trail (about 9 miles one-way) follows the access road from Crescent Lake and rewards hikers with broad views across the lake and toward Diamond Peak. The lake itself occupies a glacial basin behind a moraine dam; its clear blue-green water, sandy beaches and notably cool but pleasant high-elevation temperatures make it distinct among Cascade lakes. Beyond lake activities you're near lava flows, old-growth stands, and an extensive trail network within Deschutes and adjacent Ochoco National Forests, with regional attractions such as the Lava Lands Visitor Center and Newberry National Volcanic Monument and the 66-mile Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway all within easy reach for day trips. Wildlife in the area includes deer, porcupines, native fish and a variety of migratory birds, so bring binoculars and a sense of patience for viewing.
