“Manley's Tavern for broasted chicken...really good!”
“SO LOUD!!! Traffic isn’t even 1/8th mile away from the camp sites. Gorgeous views and I can’t wait to go back, but ho-LY!! Next time I’m DEFINITELY bringing ear plugs! ”

Sunset Cove sits on the western shore of Odell Lake in the Deschutes National Forest, a compact lakeside campground framed by stands of Douglas fir, white fir, hemlock and the occasional ponderosa pine. Diamond Peak dominates the skyline to the south an 8,744-foot Cascade shield volcano that gives the lake its alpine character while huckleberry and spring wildflowers carpet the understory and deer, elk, pine martens and ravens are frequent sights. The campground comprises 20 sites in total; all 20 are configured to accommodate both RVs and tents, making it a flexible option for small rigs and classic tent setups alike. There are no water or electric hookups, so plan on self-sufficiency: every site includes a picnic table and a metal campfire ring with grill, and the loop is served by vault toilets and a drinking-water spigot. Outdoor activity at Sunset Cove leans on Odell Lake: boating (both motorized and non-motorized boats are allowed) is the most effective way to reach good fishing spots, and windsurfing and swimming are common when conditions are calm though be prepared for brisk afternoon winds that can roughen the water. The campground offers a paved boat ramp and a handful of boat slips available on a first-come, first-served basis, and trails and backcountry access from the surrounding forest make hiking, biking, wildlife viewing and horseback riding easy to arrange. Sunset Cove is reached from the Crescent/Highway 58 corridor west of Crescent, and a nearby resort on Odell Lake provides a general store with supplies, coffee and fishing licenses. Important practical notes: fees and seasonal opening dates vary, so check Recreation.gov before you go, and be aware that once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager can modify your reservation.
