Pine Meadows Campground sits on the shores of Cottage Grove Lake in the rolling low foothills of the Calapooya Mountains, in Oregon's southern Willamette Valley. The lake was formed by the Cottage Grove Dam and the shoreline alternates between marshy edges and conifer stands, creating a mix of water and upland habitat that attracts waterfowl, songbirds, osprey and bald eagles; purple martins, willow flycatchers and yellow-breasted chats have been recorded in the area. On-water recreation is a major draw the lake supports boating, water sports, fishing and swimming, with public boat ramps at nearby Lakeside Park and Wilson Creek Park and a designated swim beach where families picnic and play. Pine Meadows is also a stop on the Big River Loop of the Willamette Valley Birding Trail, so expect easy wildlife viewing and interpretive opportunities as part of visits focused on environmental education, hiking and lakeside relaxation. The campground itself contains exactly 94 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents; sites 1 92 are standard sites in the main campground and a small loop of primitive sites (labeled A O) sits adjacent with more limited amenities. Every site has a fire ring and picnic table, and several sites are positioned right on the lakeshore. Shared facilities include flush toilets, hot showers, a dump station, a children's play area and a swim area. Reservations must be made in advance through Recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777 the booth at the campground does not take reservations on arrival and the reservation policy carries a $10 service fee for changes or cancellations. Late cancellations (the day before or day of arrival) incur the $10 fee plus forfeiture of the first night's use fee; group facility cancellations less than 14 days before arrival are similarly charged. Campsites are held only until 2:00 p.m. on the day after the scheduled arrival; no-shows are assessed a $20 service fee and will forfeit the first night's fee. If you need a refund after a stay, submit the request through your Recreation.gov profile within seven days; card refunds are returned to the original card, while refunds for cash or check payments are mailed as Treasury checks (allow 6 8 weeks).
