“The small pea-gravel is a little too much, would rather have regular ground cover, or blacktop. The vault toilets were clean and very little odor. Wish the flush toilets were a little closer to the camping spots. ”
“Lovely campground, it had more mosquitos than I was hoping but it was a great place to spend the night.”

NOTE: Millpond Recreation Site was closed for the 2022 season due to wildfire; confirm current opening status before planning your trip. When open, Millpond sits beside the clear waters of Rock Creek amid a mixed stand of Douglas fir, western red cedar and sugar pine at about 1,170 feet elevation. The site's picnic pavilion, a children's playground and horseshoe pits front spacious grassy day-use areas and a large ball field, while a family-friendly swimming hole with a sandy beach, picnic tables and grills sits between the pavilion and the loop campground. The campground itself is a single loop with 12 campsites each site is suitable for both RVs and tents and offers drinking water and vault restrooms. Short interpretive panels and a one-mile interpretive trail that passes the site of an old lumber mill, plus a short nature trail on the west end and the mile-long Sawmill Trail to the east, give easy options for shoreline walks and quick outings from camp. Millpond is a convenient base for water and trail activities in the North Umpqua corridor. The North Umpqua River lies roughly five miles away and provides opportunities for kayaking, whitewater rafting (the river contains class III stretches that demand attention) and fishing for salmon and steelhead note that angling on many stretches of the North Umpqua is limited to fly-fishing only. Longer excursions are available on the 79-mile North Umpqua Trail, popular with hikers and mountain bikers, and the Rock Creek Fish Hatchery is a short drive for families interested in viewing salmon and steelhead. The site is reached from the Roseburg/Glide area along Highway 138 and local roads into the Rock Creek valley; because of recent wildfire impacts, check current conditions and access before heading out.
