“Beautiful camp sites not right on top of each other. Spotless vault toilets. Quiet with spectacular weather ”
“The campground was very clean and beautiful. Lots of space in each camp site. We had the entire campground to ourselves Monday and Tuesday. The vault toilets were immaculate and smelled good! We were impressed.”
“Camp Host Nicole was great. Camp was clean and restrooms were also. Trail by the lakes edge could use a trim but otherwise it was great”

Winnie Campground sits on the west shore of Lake Winnibigoshish in the heart of the Chippewa National Forest, surrounded by mature red and white pine with several campsites that look toward the water. The campground feels remote you reach it by following Highway 2 east from Cass Lake and then a series of county and forest roads, with the final approach on Forest Road 2168 so plan for a longer drive from town and bring what you need. The site offers 33 reservable campsites, some notably large and suitable for groups; each site includes a picnic table and a campfire ring, and the campground provides vault toilets, hand-pumped drinking water and recycling services. Boat access is immediate: a boat ramp and a small harbor sit next to the campground for easy launching and tie-up. TOTAL CAMPSITES: 33. SITE TYPE BREAKDOWN: - 33 Both RV Sites & Tent Sites The lake itself is a major draw at roughly 67,000 acres with about 141 miles of shoreline, Lake Winnie is one of Minnesota's premier fisheries, known for walleye, perch and trophy muskie, and boating is a common activity off the campground. Trails for hiking and biking wind around the lake, a picnic area adjoins the campground, and hunting opportunities exist in the surrounding forest. For broader recreation in the Chippewa National Forest you'll find auto touring, biking, boating, camping, fishing, horseback riding, off-highway vehicle opportunities, picnicking, RV facilities, swimming, a visitor center and plentiful wildlife viewing. The town of Cass Lake is about 25 miles west and provides restaurants, a bank, grocery and hardware stores, a movie theater and a museum. Sites are reservable check the U.S. Forest Service or Recreation.gov for current reservation procedures, fees and seasonal availability before you go.
