“We love the closeness to the water, Campground host Rick very helpful and kind!”
“The site and lake were beautiful! The bike trail was nice, we rode to the visitors center and to the public beach areas. Camp host was great and super friendly. Bathrooms were maintained and clean. ”
“Park is nice and they have good biking trails but the bathrooms are absolutely filthy!!”

Wanaki Loop sits on the southern shore of Cass Lake within the Norway Beach Recreation Area of the Chippewa National Forest, shaded by mature red and white pines and with several sites set close enough to the water for partial lake views. The campground contains 22 total campsites, and all 22 sites are configured to accommodate both RVs and tents for single-family use. Practical facilities include flush and vault toilets, hot showers and drinking water, and a boat ramp located inside the campground that makes launching for a half-day of water-skiing, canoeing or a full day of angling straightforward. Cass Lake itself covers nearly 16,000 acres with about 27 miles of forested shoreline and sandy beaches; anglers come for walleye, northern pike, perch and the occasional trophy muskie, while swimmers and boaters will find plenty of open water and a small sandy beach near the loop. Beyond the campsites, the Norway Beach Visitor Center built by the Civilian Conservation Corps and recognizable by its large fireplace offers interpretive programs Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from Memorial Day through Labor Day and seasonal events such as a kid's fishing day in June, Bald Eagle Day in July and Smokey Bear's birthday in August. Nearby recreation extends from Star Island (with six miles of trails encircling Lake Windigo) to the Migizi Bike Trail and the Norway Beach Trail; the broader Chippewa NF supports auto touring, biking, horseback riding, OHV routes, picnicking, wildlife viewing and more. The town of Cass Lake is about four miles to the west and supplies groceries, a bank, restaurants and a movie theater. For current fees, reservation rules and seasonal access or to confirm campsite availability, check the U.S. Forest Service Norway Beach page or recreation.gov before you drive access is from U.S. Highway 2 east of Cass Lake with campground roads signed from the Norway Beach Recreation Area.
