“Beautiful lake. Campgrounds are good, but the bathrooms and showers REALLY need to be updated! Gross!”
“Very disappointed to see that the local Native Americans have taken over a loop in the Chippewa Loop Campground. We have been staying in this loop with a group of friends for 10 plus years but may reconsider next year”

Chippewa Loop sits along the southern shore of Cass Lake inside the Norway Beach Recreation Area of the Chippewa National Forest, offering a quiet pine-forested setting with several sites that look out over the water. The loop contains 30 campsites, all configured to accommodate both tents and RVs; electrical hookups are available at those sites. Basic campground services include flush toilets, showers and drinking water, and a nearby boat ramp provides easy access to the lake. Sites are a mix of reservable and first-come, first-served (some are held on a first-come basis), so plan ahead during peak summer holiday weekends; the drive-in access comes from U.S. Highway 2 east of Cass Lake, and the town of Cass Lake with restaurants, stores and a small museum is about four miles away for supplies and services. Recreation centers on Cass Lake itself nearly 16,000 acres in the Cass Lake Chain with sandy beaches and 27 miles of forested shoreline where boating, canoeing, water-skiing and swimming are popular and anglers pursue walleye, northern pike, perch and trophy muskie. The nearby Star Island complex, which contains Lake Windigo, adds about six miles of island trails for hiking and exploration, and on the mainland you'll find the Migizi Bike Trail and the Norway Beach Trail for biking and foot travel. The Norway Beach Visitor Center, a Civilian Conservation Corps built structure with a large fireplace, offers interpretive displays on Dakota and Ojibwe heritage and the area's plants and animals, plus regular programs from Memorial Day through Labor Day and seasonal events such as a kids' fishing day in June, Bald Eagle Day in July and Smokey Bear's birthday in August. Beyond lake activities there are opportunities across the Chippewa National Forest for wildlife viewing, auto touring, horseback riding and designated off-highway vehicle routes, so the area supports a wide range of outdoor pursuits.
