Clear Lake Campsite sits on the eastern shore of a 109-acre inland lake within the Munising/Rapid River/Manistique districts of Hiawatha National Forest and offers a single, open campsite set among hardwoods and pines. TOTAL CAMPSITES: 1 the site is listed as 1 Both RV Sites & Tent Sites and measures roughly 50 ft by 30 ft, large enough for two families, trailers, and up to eight people. There is a back-in boat launch immediately adjacent to the site that serves as a public access point; boaters and anglers will often cross the campsite to reach the water, so expect intermittent foot and vehicle traffic. The lake supports a healthy fishery yellow perch, smallmouth and largemouth bass, and the occasional splake and there is easy boat access for fishing, but swimming at this site is not recommended. This is a very rustic spot: there is NO drinking water and NO toilets on site, so bring all potable water, plan to pack out waste or bring a portable toilet, and be prepared for primitive conditions. The campground's road access comes from M-94 between Shingleton and Manistique via Clear Lake Road (Forest Road 2246) and a short spur to FR 2246J, making it a relatively remote, quiet stop for people traveling that corridor. Within a mile or so you'll find basic services bait shops, grocery and general stores, gas, a pay phone and nearby trailheads, a fishing pier, and outfitters offering kayak/canoe rentals; the broader Hiawatha National Forest supports biking, hiking, horse trails, wildlife viewing, and other recreation opportunities. Because official fee, reservation, and seasonal-access details aren't included here, call for current information before you go: local info (906) 474-6442 or general information (906) 387-2512.
