“Great location, right next to boat launch, but maybe 1 or 2 cars or trucks ever came.. Nature trail around the lake as well as no bugs when we went! (September 20th around). Nice lake, didn't catch any fish but I'm sure they're out there! ”
“We loved this site! I stayed here as a kid and wanted to relive past memories and it was a great time. The camp site was clean and the trail next to the site made for a nice walk around the lake. I will be going back in the future and continue to make more memories at Minerva!”
“Private little campsite right next to a boat launch. Small so don’t plan on more than a couple tents. Very close to the big sand playground if you are planning on doing any off-road activities.”

Minerva Lake Campsite is a single, primitive site set on the wooded shore of a 45-acre inland lake within Hiawatha National Forest. TOTAL CAMPSITES: 1 configured to serve both RVs and tents (1 Both RV Sites & Tent Sites) the cleared campsite measures roughly 40 ft by 30 ft and is intended for one family (maximum 8 people). The site sits in a semi-open pocket bordered by hardwoods and hemlocks and will accommodate tents or small trailers, but turnaround space is limited so larger rigs will be awkward; the short access road includes a narrow, moderately steep section that is passable for moderate-sized vehicles. There are no toilets and no drinking water provided at the site, so plan to pack water and carry out all waste. A back-in, improved day-use boat access sits adjacent to the campsite on a gravel base; it's suitable for small boats and small trailers only and parking at the launch is limited. Swimming conditions at Minerva Lake are described as poor, but anglers will find largemouth bass and perch in a lake long regarded for its fishing remember that Michigan fishing licenses are required. Beyond the campsite itself, the broader Hiawatha area offers a range of outdoor pursuits: hiking, biking and horse trails are minutes away, and nearby trailheads, a fishing pier and kayak/canoe rentals make it easy to extend a day on the water. Basic supplies, fuel, ice and deli items are available about three miles south in the Thunder Lake area on County Road 437, and within a mile or so you'll find bait shops, general stores and other services. For current information on fees, seasonal openings and reservations (none are listed with the site information), or for local questions, call the ranger offices at (906) 474-6442 or (906) 387-2512 before you go.
