Ironjaw Lake Campsite is a single, semi-primitive family site within the Ironjaw Semi-Primitive Area of Hiawatha National Forest. The site is listed as both an RV and tent site and is laid out as a pull-through with a tent pad set on a hill overlooking Lake Nineteen; it will comfortably accommodate one family or a small trailer and is limited to a maximum of eight people and two horses. There is no drinking water on site, and a primitive toilet sits across the road from the small parking area. Turnaround space is constrained, so large rigs should plan carefully; the parking area is small and the boat access requires descending a steep, firm-surfaced hill with very limited back-in/turn-around room, so four-wheel drive is highly recommended for launching. The site provides a quiet, wooded setting among hardwoods and pines on a 62-acre lake, but it's intentionally rustic expect few amenities and aim to arrive self-sufficient. The campsite sits on the non-motorized Pine Marten Run Trail corridor, so hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders can step directly into multi-use trail opportunities, and horse camping is permitted at this site. Ironjaw Lake (and nearby waters) offer good fishing crappie fishing is noted as excellent in spring, and the lake contains northern pike, largemouth bass, bluegill and bullheads but Michigan fishing licenses are required. The designated swimming area at this site is in poor condition, so swimming may be limited. Services such as groceries, gasoline, boat rentals, ice and MDNR licenses are about six miles west on Forest Highway 13, and more trailheads, bait shops and rental options can be found within a short drive.
