“Everything was clean and stocked. We had a great experience, only one incident with someone from a nearby campground visiting the bathroom. We will definitely be back!!”
“Large area for entertaining and playing games, pavilion is great for hot days or rainy days. Volleyball and horseshoes is a bonus. Camp host is great, very accommodating and checks in on bathrooms daily. ”

Elks Flat Campground sits on the eastern bank of the South Fork Boise River at about 4,400 feet, where a grassy meadow opens into stands of cottonwood, aspen, Douglas fir and ponderosa pine at the foot of the Trinity Range. The river runs right along the campground's edge, so swimming, rafting and river fishing for rainbow trout are the immediate draws; Paradise Hot Springs is also nearby and Baumgartner Hot Springs with a soaking pool and nature trail is roughly 16 miles away. Trail access from camp is strong: Green Creek Trail 270 (4.5 miles) begins about a mile from the sites and is open to hikers, horseback riders and dirt bikes, while Cross Cut Trail 172 starts nearby and allows hiking, biking, horseback riding and off-road vehicles. The campground lies five miles north of the small town of Pine and is reached from Mountain Home by heading east on Highway 20 to the Pine/Featherville turnoff (Forest Highway 61) and then north toward the site. The facility is small but set up for groups: there are two total campsites, both configured to accept RVs and tents and each designed as a large-group site able to accommodate up to 100 people. Each site includes a covered pavilion, picnic tables and cement site pads; basic amenities on site are vault toilets and drinking water, while roads and parking spurs are gravel. The listing does not indicate electrical or sewer hook-ups, so plan for self-contained camping if you need those services. For practical details such as current fees, reservation policies, seasonal openings and any access restrictions, check with Boise National Forest (the campground's official managing agency) before you go, as that information can change from year to year.
