“Fairly secluded campground a little ways off the highway. Friendly camp host, clean restrooms, and there are dumpsters near the entrance so you don’t have to carry trash all the way home. There are hot springs very close by, which are a huge bonus to this location. ”
“Clean and well taken care of. Always a pleasure visiting here.”

Dog Creek Campground sits at about 4,600 feet in a stand of ponderosa pines on the banks of Dog Creek, roughly four miles from the small town of Pine in south-central Idaho and about 58 miles east of Mountain Home via Highway 20 and Forest Highway 61. The setting is quietly wooded rather than developed summer wildflowers scatter the understory and deer and hummingbirds are commonly seen and the South Fork Boise River runs less than a quarter-mile away, where anglers chase rainbow trout and rafters and swimmers find access to swift water. Trailheads are close: Green Creek Trail 270 (4.5 miles) begins a mile away and permits hiking, horseback riding, biking and off-highway vehicles, while Cross Cut Trail 172 is also nearby for similar uses. For hot-spring seekers, Paradise Hot Springs is in the area and Baumgartner Hot Springs is about 16 miles away, with Kelly Creek Flats Recreation Area adjacent to Baumgartner for additional trail options. The campground is small and understated, with 13 campsites in total 11 single-family sites plus two small group sites that can accommodate up to 15 people each and every site is suitable for both RVs and tents. Facilities are basic: vault toilets and drinking water are provided, roads and parking spurs inside the loop are gravel, and the campground sits off the main road for a quieter stay. Recreation options across Boise National Forest include biking, boating, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, OHV riding, picnicking, wildlife viewing and winter sports; at Dog Creek itself expect primarily fishing, swimming and trail access. Please check with the local ranger district for current fees, reservation rules and seasonal road conditions before you go, since services and access can vary with the season.
