“Not great campsite. Gave up on it and found a better site at Howers where a first-come first-serve was open. Would not book this site again.”
“never under estimate camping on off days. bald eagles, clean bathrooms, no children = heaven”

Barneys Campground sits at about 5,300 feet on the northeast shore of Deadwood Reservoir, where a mixed-growth pine canopy shades eight primitive waterfront campsites that each accommodate both RVs and tents. Sites offer direct shoreline access and broad views across the lake; roads and parking spurs inside the campground are dirt, and the site provides vault toilets and drinking water but no electricity. The campground is small and remote just eight total campsites so plan accordingly: there is a $5 fee for vehicles entering the campground for day use, and access to the reservoir and Barneys is reached via Forest Road 579 off the Banner Summit / Lowman approach from Highway 55 in the Boise area. The setting is quiet and oriented toward water- and trail-based recreation. Deadwood Reservoir is known locally for good fishing Atlantic, Chinook and Kokanee salmon, plus rainbow and cutthroat trout and non-motorized and motorized boating, canoeing, kayaking and water skiing are all popular; a boat ramp is located about 2 miles away at Cozy Cove Campground. Numerous nearby trails support hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and ATV use, and summer wildflowers color the forest margins. Beyond the campground itself, Boise National Forest offers a wide range of outdoor options including biking, boating, camping, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, off-highway vehicle use, picnicking, swimming, wildlife viewing, winter sports and stays in fire lookouts/cabins.
