“wow! I'm in love with this campsite, I wish people were more mindful of this beautiful place. It looks like the people before us were a little messy, we tried to clean up as much as possible and leave the place better than how we found it. Definitely coming back again.”
“We stayed here for the last 4 days and it was beautiful. The bathrooms were very well kept and clean it was nice it have a flushable toilets up here. The camp just Jeff was great and very friendly and made sure we were all settled in nicely. Hoping to book again for next year. ”
“Cool location with nice water near by. Bathrooms were very clean and well supplied. I’d say just bring a light for evening hours, the lighting is somewhat dim. Great time at Palisade. ”

Palisades Group Campground is a single group site located at about 8,800 feet on the bottom of a steep stretch of Rock Creek Canyon in Inyo National Forest, roughly 13 miles south of Mammoth Lakes and 30 miles north of Bishop off U.S. 395. The site is the only designated campsite in the Palisades Group area one combined RV-and-tent group site and sits amid stands of aspen and lodgepole pine with quick access to the creek. A private loop within the site provides five picnic tables and campfire rings, and the site's shade and riverside setting make it practical for larger family gatherings or club trips; it is also used as overflow for the nearby Rock Creek Lake group site for groups of 25 people or fewer. Because the campground is at high elevation and down in a canyon, expect mountain weather and wildlife activity black bear, mountain lions, mule deer, pine martin, pika and numerous birds are commonly found nearby and check current conditions, fees, and reservation policies with Inyo National Forest before you go. The campground puts you close to classic eastern Sierra recreation: Rock Creek and nearby lakes offer plentiful trout fishing (brook, brown, rainbow and stocked Alpers trout are common in the creek, with golden trout possible in the backcountry), and several hiking trails in and around Rock Creek Canyon lead toward high-elevation alpine lakes and photo-worthy creekside scenery. Because the site is a short drive from both Mammoth Lakes and Bishop, you can combine a quiet group camp weekend with local events such as Bishop's Mule Days over Memorial Day weekend or the Mammoth Jazz Jubilee in mid-July. Access to the site is via Rock Creek Road about six miles from the Tom's Place area off Highway 395; for up-to-date information on seasonal openings, reservations and any access requirements, contact the Inyo National Forest office.
