“Excellent campsite… Clean restrooms, the camp host is excellent, and great cell signal.. I was able to watch Youtube videos while chilling near the fire. ”
“I love this spot. The bathrooms are clean and the camp attendant person was super nice. He even showed us vintage pictures from when he was young and his family had a cabin on the site. This is definitely heaven on earth. ”
“camping sights in the back of the campground were quite and secluded. Like a large cul-de-sac.”

Tuff Campground sits along the clear, fast flow of Rock Creek at about 7,000 feet in the Sierra Nevada, closer to valley floor than many high-country sites so it's often one of the first campgrounds to reopen after winter. The site offers a total of 34 campsites, and each of those 34 sites is configured to accommodate both tents and RVs, with room for small trailers and a handful of very level tent pads. The camping area is spread over three loops: some sites slip into shade beside the creek, while others sit at the base of the local Tuff rock formations and get more sun. Roads inside the campground are gravel; firewood is sold on site, and basic supplies plus pay-showers are available a short drive away in Tom's Place. Seasonal opening and closing dates depend on snow and weather, but the campground typically opens the last weekend in April to line up with the first day of fishing in the Sierras. Rock Creek and the nearby Rock Creek Lake and Crawley Lake are the main draws for anglers trout in the area include brook, brown, rainbow and stocked Alpers trout and the creek's sound is a constant backdrop for hikers and cyclists working the nearby trails and volcanic rock scenery. Vegetation is a mix of open sagebrush meadows with pockets of aspen, cottonwood and Jeffrey pine, and the landscape supports abundant wildlife: campers may encounter mule deer, pika, pine marten and a range of birds, and black bear and mountain lions are known to inhabit the area, so follow standard food-storage and wildlife-safety practices. For access, the campground is reached from U.S. Highway 395 at Tom's Place (between Bishop and Mammoth Lakes) via Owens Gorge Road and a short gravel spur to Rock Creek follow posted signs. Because fees, reservations and exact opening dates can change, check current Inyo National Forest information before you go; nearby events on the summer calendar include Bishop's Mule Days over Memorial Day weekend and the Mammoth Jazz Jubilee in mid-July.
