“conveniently located close to visitors center and market, My only complaint is the bathrooms are disgusting! I would walk to the visitors center or market to use the restroom. ”
“Great little campsite. Appreciated that sites were level. It was yellow jacket season when I visited but none bothered me. Overall very well maintained site and even had 5G which was a surprise (great for accessing AllTrails to plan the next day:)). ”
“Great service by the understaffed NP service! ”

Lodgepole Campground sits along the Marble Fork of the Kaweah River at about 6,700 feet, putting you among lodgepole pine and red fir with giant sequoia groves and granite peaks close by. The campground is a large, well-used facility with 202 sites total: 97 that accommodate both RVs and tents, 10 RV-only sites, and 95 tent-only sites, arranged in multiple loops (for example, sites 1 22 contain 19 sites, 23 35 contain 11, 36 60 contain 25, 61 68 contain 8, Upper Lodgepole 69 104 contains 36, Upper Lodgepole 105 144 contains 39, and the 151 214 grouping contains 64 sites). Roads in the campground are paved; each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and a bear-proof food storage box, and the campground has flush toilets and drinking water. Lodgepole Village a quarter-mile from the loops houses the Visitor Center, a market and gift shop; note that coin-operated showers and laundry were not available for the 2023 season. Because Lodgepole is popular with both tent and RV campers, campsites can fill quickly in summer and on holiday weekends. Outdoor options radiate directly from the campground: the park maintains about 40 miles of trails, including the paved Big Trees Trail through the Giant Forest and the easy Tokopah Falls Trail that follows the Marble Fork to a dramatic 1,200-foot waterfall; the Moro Rock trailhead and other wilderness access points are also nearby, and fly-fishing on the Marble Fork is a common pastime. Major nearby attractions include the General Sherman Tree, General Grant Tree, Tunnel Log, Giant Forest Museum, Crescent Meadow and Tharp's Log; Crystal Cave is about a 45-minute drive (13 miles) but was closed for the 2023 season guided cave tours require advance reservations at recreation.gov and tickets are sometimes available the same day at the Lodgepole Visitor Center. Practical details to plan around: entrance fees apply (1 7 day vehicle pass $35; $20 per person on foot/bike; $30 per motorcycle) and camping is $32 per night ($16 with a valid Lifetime Access, Lifetime Senior, or Annual Senior Pass), reservations are charged in full when made and changes or cancellations typically incur a $10 service fee (with additional penalties for late cancellations); if a reserved site remains vacant for 24 hours after your arrival it will be cancelled, you'll be charged the first night and a $10 cancellation fee, and you should call (559) 565-4404 if you expect to arrive more than 24 hours after your reservation to prevent automatic cancellation. Road access approaches the park from the west (the Generals Highway links the north and south entrances but can close in winter between Grant Grove and Lodgepole), drives to Lodgepole take about an hour from either the south (Hwy 198) or north (Hwy 180) entrance, and vehicles over 22 feet are prohibited on the narrow Crystal Cave Road and are not advised between Potwisha Campground and the Giant Forest Museum if you have a longer vehicle, plan to enter via Highway 180 from the north.
