“quiet campground with good accessibility to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, great views of stars at night - some tent pads may need good selection in case of heavier rain to avoid running water through the tent.”
“It is in great location. Missed dumping station close by ”

Upper Stony Creek Campground sits at about 5,250 feet on the north shore of Hume Lake, among stands of Douglas-fir and Jeffrey pine that frame views down to the 87-acre reservoir originally created to support a historical logging operation. The campground contains 17 reservable campsites; all 17 sites are configured to accommodate both RVs and tents. Basic amenities include vault toilets, picnic areas and drinking water, and the sites follow the creek as it threads through the loop, so short walks from camp will put you at small fishing and hiking spots along the stream. The site is managed by Rocky Mountain Recreation Company (a division of ExplorUS); campground hosts and online forms are available if you want to leave comments or ask specific questions. Hume Lake is the local hub for non-motorized boating, fishing and lakeside strolls, while nearby forest roads and singletrack open opportunities for mountain biking and off-road vehicle riding; the immediate creekside trails at the campground are good for short hikes and angling. Beyond the lake, Sequoia National Forest's broader network supports horseback riding, horse camping, interpretive programs, fire-lookout/cabin overnight options and longer hiking routes through the Kings River watershed and higher Sierra terrain. For planning, note that sites are reservable check availability, seasonal access, and fees before you go by calling the facility at (559) 335-5385 and the campground lies in the Hume Lake area east of Fresno along Highway 180/Generals Highway, convenient for day trips to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks, Giant Sequoia National Monument, Boyden Caverns and General Grant Grove.
