“Lovely area. Perfect campground situated right in the middle of both sequoia national park and Kings Canyon.”

Stony Creek Campground occupies a forested stretch at 5,250 feet amid stands of sequoia and Jeffrey pine on the southern side of Hume Lake (about 18 miles from the shore), with several creeks running through the site that provide fishing and wading opportunities. The campground contains 44 reservable sites in total: 26 sites are configured to accommodate both RVs and tents, and 18 are tent-only sites. Basic amenities include vault toilets, drinking water, and an amphitheater used for park programs; there are no other facility details listed, so expect a relatively rustic experience without utility hookups. The Jennie Lake Trailhead is immediately accessible across the road in the Upper Stony Creek Campground for a 4-mile outing, and campground hosts and online comment forms are available through the site operator, Rocky Mountain Recreation Company (a division of ExplorUS), should you want to provide feedback. Recreation centers on Hume Lake and the surrounding Sequoia National Forest: anglers chase trout and boaters use non-motorized craft on the lake, while nearby trails and forest roads support hiking, mountain biking, off-highway vehicle riding, horseback riding and horse camping. The forest as a whole offers interpretive programs and opportunities to visit giant sequoia groves, waterfalls such as Salmon Creek and Grizzly Falls, and historic sites related to the area's logging past; popular day trips from Stony Creek include Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks, Giant Sequoia National Monument, Boyden Caverns and General Grant Grove. For planning details you won't find here including fees, exact seasonal availability and reservation windows call the facility at (559) 335-5385 or check the official reservation site before you go.
