“The campgrounds were clean as well as the bathrooms. Our campsite was flat and it worked well for our pop-up trailer camper.”
“A nice campground. Shuttle bus is definitely helpful. Choose your campsite carefully! There are some with very little level ground!”

Dorst Creek Campground sits at about 6,700 feet on the banks of Dorst Creek, surrounded by meadow pockets, small streams and forests of lodgepole pine and red fir, with groves of giant sequoias and granite peaks visible nearby. The site is a practical base for exploring the Giant Forest region: several trails begin at or near the campground, including the short hike to Lost Grove (a 57-acre stand with 15 sequoias), the Big Trees Trail, and routes to Moro Rock and Tunnel Log; the easy Tokopah Falls Trail follows the Marble Fork of the Kaweah River to an impressive 1,200-foot fall. Fly-fishing is popular on Dorst Creek and the Marble Fork, and Crescent Meadow, Tharp's Log, the General Sherman and General Grant trees, and the Giant Forest Museum are all within roughly 9 17 miles. Crystal Cave is about a one-hour (21-mile) drive; tours require tickets (reserve at recreation.gov or try the Lodgepole Visitor Center the same day if availability remains), and the cave road prohibits vehicles longer than 22 feet. The campground handles a steady mix of tenters and RVs with paved roads and 203 total campsites: 150 sites that can accommodate both RVs and tents, 25 RV-only sites and 28 tent-only sites. Sites are laid out in loops A through H Loop A has 24 sites, B 33, C 12, D 21, E 27, F 33, G 25 and H 24 and there are four group sites. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring and a bear food-storage box; the campground offers flush toilets, drinking water and a free on-site dump station but no electrical hookups. Lodgepole Village is nine miles away with a visitor center, ranger programs, market, deli, showers and laundry. Entrance fees apply to the park (for a 1 7 day vehicle pass the current fee is $35) and campsite fees are $32 per night ($16 for holders of lifetime Access or Senior passes for single-site rates); group sites run $60 $80. Reservations are charged in full when made and a $10 service fee applies to changes or cancellations; specific late-cancellation rules and a policy that a site left vacant for 24 hours after the arrival date will be cancelled (with fees charged) are enforced call (559) 565-4404 for facility-specific questions or to report a delayed arrival. For those towing or driving long vehicles, note that stretches of road in the park are not advised for rigs over 22 feet and visitors with longer vehicles are advised to use the northern Highway 180 entrance.
