“Ralph and Virginia are awesome camp hosts! See you next season. ”
“Twin Lakes is a great campground in the Mammoth Lakes basin. Most sites are just a few feet/yards away from the lakes, they have running water and flushing toilets. The bathrooms were kept very clean, and the camp host was friendly and helpful. ”
“We had a great stay. The campsites were well-tended and the bathrooms were clean - the two most important criteria for our stay. Thank you!”

Twin Lakes Campground sits in the eastern Sierra near the town of Mammoth Lakes at about 8,600 feet, with campsites arranged around a pair of 108-acre lakes and a small waterfall that feeds into one of them. The water and surrounding forest of lodgepole pine set the tone for the site's main draws: angling for rainbow, brook and brown trout from shore or a boat, paddling in a canoe or kayak, and several nearby hikes ranging from two short nature trails that follow the lakes to a longer, roughly 4-mile route up Mammoth Mountain. Powerboats are allowed only with electric motors, which keeps the water calm and well suited to fishing and wildlife viewing; visitors should watch for mule deer, pine marten, pika, numerous birds, and the occasional larger mammals like black bear or mountain lion. The campground is convenient to additional recreation in the Mammoth Lakes Basin and to the John Muir Wilderness and Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, while the town of Mammoth Lakes is just a short drive away for groceries, services and winter or summer resort activities. The campground has 93 sites in total, and every site is configured to accommodate both RVs and tents, so you'll find a mix of shoreline spots (Sections 1 and 2 on the west side) and hilltop sites (Section 3) that offer slightly different views and levels of exposure. Each campsite includes a picnic table and a campfire ring; the loop is served by flush toilets and drinking water. A walkable general store near the campground rents boats, stocks basic camping supplies and provides showers. Twin Lakes is reached from U.S. Highway 395 via State Route 203 through Mammoth Lakes and on to the Lakes Basin, roughly 320 miles north of Los Angeles and 180 miles south of Reno. Because fees, reservation windows and seasonal openings can change, check current information and make reservations through the Inyo National Forest or recreation.gov before you go.
