Lakeview Campground sits on the western flank of the Cloud Peak Skyway beside Meadowlark Lake, about 50 miles east of Worland, Wyoming, and provides a compact, water-focused base for exploring the Cloud Peak Wilderness and the rest of Bighorn National Forest. The campground's 19 sites are a mix of 11 spots that accept both RVs and tents and 8 tent-only sites, with Site 10 laid out as a double site for larger groups. Many sites look out over the 325-acre Meadowlark Lake, whose wake-less boating restriction makes it particularly well suited to canoeing and quiet fishing; anglers commonly find rainbow, cutthroat, brown and brook trout. The loops are simple, single-family sites each fitted with a picnic table and a campfire ring with grill; accessible vault toilets, drinking water and trash collection are provided, and the campground host sells firewood bundles. Note that the nearest dump station is not on-site but is located about 12 miles away at Powder River Pass. Beyond the campsite itself, the surrounding national forest opens into miles of jeep roads, off-road vehicle trails and hiking that range from creekside walks to routes that penetrate the Cloud Peak Wilderness. A short hike east of the lake reaches the historic High Park Lookout, and West Tensleep Lake about 10 miles north serves as the trailhead for the popular West Tensleep Lake Trail into the wilderness; nearby Deer Haven and Meadowlark lodges offer meals, supplies and guided horseback outings. Practical details to plan around: two non-towed vehicles are allowed per site (the base fee covers the first vehicle; the campground charges $10/day for the second), single sites (1 8 people) are $18 per day for one non-towed vehicle with trailer, and the double site rate (9 16 people) is $36 per day for two non-towed vehicles with trailers; an additional car beyond those is $10/day and a fourth car (maximum) is listed as free. Reservation refunds requested through recreation.gov incur a $10 processing fee retained by the reservation contractor and the reservation fee itself is non-refundable; the campground concessionaire (administered by Gallatin Canyon Campgrounds, gccampgrounds13@gmail.com) does not return those contractor-retained fees.
