“Less is the best camp host! The bathrooms are alway immaculate and he’s so helpful. We’ve enjoyed having him as a camp host the last couple of years!”
“Small but beautiful campground along the creek, private sites in a dens wooded area, quiet except for the rushing waters. Host was very friendly and helpful, facilities very clean.”
“We have camped here a few times now, and just like previous experiences it was fantastic. Les is a great camp host, very kind and helpful. Thanks for another great stay and we are already looking forward to the next time we can come. ”

Leigh Creek Campground sits on the banks of Tensleep Creek in a stand of lodgepole pine on the west side of the Cloud Peak Skyway, about 35 miles east of Worland and just off Highway 16 east of Ten Sleep via Forest Service Road 018 (Wyoming Hwy 435). The site inventory is small and straightforward: there are 10 total campsites five that accommodate both RVs and tents and five tent-only sites each a single-family unit with a picnic table and a campfire ring with grill. Facilities are basic but functional: vault toilets, a hand-pump for drinking water, and trash collection; there are no on-site sewer hookups and the nearest dump station is 22 miles away at Powder River Pass. Vehicle rules are important to note: two non-towed vehicles are allowed per site, the first is included in the basic fee and a second vehicle incurs a $9.00/day charge collected at the campground. The campground is administered by Gallatin Canyon Campgrounds (gccampgrounds13@gmail.com). Recreation around Leigh Creek is varied and immediate: Tensleep Creek and numerous nearby streams and lakes provide fishing and paddling, Meadowlark Lake (about 11 miles away) permits motorized craft at wake-less speeds while West Tensleep Lake (about 14 miles northeast) is for non-motorized craft only, and miles of off-highway vehicle trails and scenic jeep roads thread the surrounding Bighorn Mountains. Many hiking options range from creekside strolls to longer routes that gain access to the Cloud Peak Wilderness roughly 14 miles to the northeast; a short hike near Meadowlark Lake leads to the historic High Park Lookout built by the CCC. Nearby lodges such as Deer Haven and Meadowlark offer meals, supplies, guided horseback rides and other services if you need resupply or a turnkey activity. If you reserve through recreation.gov be aware refund requests incur a $10 processing fee and the reservation contractor retains the non-refundable reservation fee; for questions about on-the-ground operations contact the campground concessionaire at the email above.
