“We had an excellent time camping in the camper cabins. The bathrooms were well maintained and the check in was seamless. ”
“Headwaters is in a great location for visiting both Yellowstone and Grand Teton. It's been a regular stop for me for the last 10 years and will return next year. The convenience of the store and gas station is great and the prices are reasonable (both gas and food).”

Headwaters Campground at Flagg Ranch sits where the upper Snake River meadow meets conifer forest, two miles south of Yellowstone's south gate and minutes from the southern reaches of Grand Teton National Park. The facility contains 165 campsites in total 39 glamping-style hard-wall camper cabins, 94 RV sites, and 32 tent sites spread across numbered loops (100s: 13 sites; 200s: 16; 300s: 31; 400s: 33; 500s: 31; 600s: 29; 700s: 12), giving you a good idea of scale and where you might land within the campground. Sites are simple and practical: every pitch and cabin includes a picnic table and metal fire pit, and tent sites have gravel parking for two vehicles and pads for up to two tents. RV campers will find pull-through gravel spaces sized for rigs up to 45 feet with full hookups (sewer, water, and 20-, 30-, and 50-amp electric), while the hard-wall camper cabins offer bunk-style sleeping (bring your own bedding or rent limited linens) plus a lantern but no electricity or private restroom. Shared conveniences flush toilets, shower facilities (one fully accessible shower), water spigots, food-storage lockers at tent and RV sites, coin-operated laundry, and a 24-hour phone in the lodge lobby keep logistics simple; propane, firewood, ice and supplies are sold at the lodge, which also houses Sheffields Restaurant and Saloon for casual meals. The setting defines the experience: Polecat Creek runs within walking distance through wildflower meadows and forest, and the Snake River excellent for cutthroat and brook trout threads the area for float trips and fly-fishing; nearby trails include the 2.5-mile loop to Huckleberry Hot Springs (soaking not allowed in the campground) and the 5.1-mile Flagg Canyon out-and-back along the Snake that passes a waterfall and frequent wildlife viewing opportunities. Because there is no cellular or internet service here, Headwaters is best for campers who plan ahead: reservations for RV sites, tent sites, and camper cabins open on Recreation.gov on a six-month rolling basis and a deposit for the full reservation is required; changes outside your original dates may incur a $10 fee, refunds carry a $10 service fee, late cancellations or cancellations within 24 hours typically forfeit the first night's rate, and no-shows are charged a $20 service fee plus the first night's rate. The campground is open June through October; for facility-specific questions call (307) 543-2861 or visit the lodge at 100 Grassy Lake Rd., Moran, WY. From this base you can access the full range of park activities auto touring, biking, boating and paddling, hiking, climbing, fishing, wildlife viewing and more while keeping safety in mind around bears, moose, and other large animals that frequent the area.
