“The Campground was quiet and perfectly located as a basecamp for our hiking adventures. The host was incredibly kind and takes pride in his role - the bathrooms were unbelievably clean! ”

Teton Canyon Campground sits at roughly 6,500 feet along Teton Creek, where a mix of pine, spruce and fir shades about half the loop and open meadows with aspens and summer wildflowers occupy the rest, offering partial views of the Teton Range. The small, newly renovated facility has 12 campsites in total, and each site is set up for both RVs and tents with a picnic table, campfire ring, grill and a metal food-storage locker. Roads and parking spurs are gravel; vault toilets, potable water and trash collection are provided, but there is no electrical service. Two sites are outfitted for equestrian use and a horse staging area sits at the trailhead parking, making the campground a practical base for riders as well as hikers. Teton Creek runs alongside the campground and attracts fly-fishermen chasing brook and Yellowstone cutthroat trout, while moose and deer are commonly seen in the surrounding forest and meadow edges. Trails leave directly from the campground into Teton Canyon and toward the Jedediah Smith Wilderness and Teton Range, so hiking, backpacking and horseback riding are the most immediate recreational draws; the wider Caribou-Targhee National Forest also supports biking, hunting, OHV routes, swimming and winter sports. Grand Targhee Resort is a short drive away and supplements summer recreation with lift-served hiking and mountain biking, scenic lift rides, guided rides, a climbing wall and an 18-hole disc golf course, plus seasonal festivals such as Targhee Fest (mid-July) and the Bluegrass Festival (mid-August); Driggs hosts the Teton Valley Summer Festival around the Fourth of July. Campsites are limited (12 total) and some spots may be offered on a first-come, first-served basis; fees, reservation options and seasonal opening dates are not listed here, so check the Caribou-Targhee National Forest or recreation.gov for current rules, road conditions on Forest Road 009 and any access advisories before you go.
