“The bees were so bad Labor Day Week. Its the largest campground in the Tetons, just need showers!”
“We camped in loop F , spot 289 which has some privacy and is away from the smaller in loop spots. It doesn't have power but is in a non generator loop.”
“Nice campground and enjoyed my spot that had plenty of room for my tent and to spread out. Close enough to everything I wanted to see and do. I would stay here again!”

Gros Ventre Campground sits on the valley floor beneath Blacktail Butte with clear sightlines to the Teton Range, and its cottonwood-fringed setting puts the Gros Ventre River within easy walking distance of every site. That river corridor is a magnet for wildlife bison, moose, elk, mule deer and a broad mix of birds are commonly seen from campsites and nearby trails so bring binoculars and a telephoto for photography, and be prepared to give animals plenty of space. Anglers can stroll down to the Gros Ventre to try for cutthroat, brook trout and whitefish, or arrange a guided fly-fishing trip on the Snake River; hiking options include the 7.3-mile Blacktail Butte Trail for wildflowers and panoramic views, and sport climbers use the limestone walls on the butte for 5.10 5.12 routes. The campground is also the park's most convenient overnight base for quick runs into Jackson (10 15 minutes) to visit the National Museum of Wildlife Art or the town square, or to follow the 43-mile Scenic Loop Drive through Grand Teton and on toward Colter Bay and the south entrance to Yellowstone. Practical details matter here: Gros Ventre operates seasonally from late April through early October and provides 314 total campsites 279 that accommodate both RVs and tents and 35 tent-only sites arranged across loops A (46), B (33), C (42), D (38), EC (42), F (49), G (36), WC (24) plus four group sites. There are 39 electric-only sites, 10 of which are ADA-compliant; most campsites are level with compact gravel surfaces, each equipped with a picnic table, metal fire pit and food-storage locker, and restrooms with flush toilets and several wheelchair-accessible facilities are nearby. RVs have back-in or pull-through gravel parking for one RV and one tow vehicle up to 45 feet total; a limited-use RV dump station is located across from the office and there are two dump stations with restricted availability ask staff on arrival. There are no showers, no on-site internet and cellular coverage varies; the campground office (open 8 a.m. 8 p.m. in peak season) sells firewood and ice and a host and courtesy phone are on site. Generators are permitted only in loops A, B and C. Reservations and fees are handled through Recreation.gov; expect a small utility water-hookup fee on applicable sites, a $10 service fee withheld for most cancellations (with additional forfeiture of the first night if you cancel the day before or the day of arrival), a $20 no-show fee plus forfeiture of the first night, and a $10 change fee for date changes outside the original booking window.
