Sitting along Teton Pass at about 6,200 feet and just off Wyoming Route 22, Mike Harris Campground is a small, forested site five miles southeast of Victor, Idaho and two miles north of Trail Creek Campground. The facility contains 12 total campsites, each configured for both RVs and tents as single-family sites, with picnic tables, campfire rings and food-storage lockers at every site. Drinking water, accessible vault toilets and trash collection are provided, and roads and parking spurs are gravel, so expect a firm dirt approach and plan accordingly for trailers or larger rigs. The campground lies beside Trail Creek in a stand of Douglas fir and lodgepole pine; moose and deer frequent the area and summer wildflowers carpet the meadows, while the higher elevation means generally cooler nights and quick changes in weather. Outdoor opportunities begin right at the site: the Mikesell Canyon Trail starts at the campground and draws hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders into adjacent canyons, and Trail Creek offers fishing for Yellowstone cutthroat and brook trout. Beyond the immediate loop, the Teton Valley's summer calendar and nearby Grand Targhee Resort add variety the Teton Valley Summer Festival in Driggs and Grand Targhee's Targhee Fest (mid-July) and Bluegrass Festival (mid-August) are within easy reach, and the resort also provides lift-access hiking and mountain biking, scenic lift rides, guided horseback outings, a climbing wall and an 18-hole disc golf course. For longer day trips the Granite Entrance to Grand Teton National Park is about 22 miles away, Jackson, Wyoming is roughly 19 miles, and Yellowstone National Park can be reached within a couple hours' drive; for details on fees, reservations and seasonal access, check with the Caribou-Targhee National Forest ranger district before you go.
