“The campground map attatched to the website is not even close to how the camp sites were actually laid out. Booked sites next to each other and ended up moving sites (campground was mostly empty) so we could be near each other”
“Beautiful campground. Clean bathroom. So many wildflowers. Lots of bugs, but I wasn't surprised after the amount of water that is everywhere. We stayed in #5 and it was perfect. Bring a shade tent as there aren't a ton of trees.”

China Meadows Campground sits at about 10,000 feet on the northern slope of the Uinta Mountains, a small, timbered site just off the shore of China Lake that serves as a straightforward gateway to the High Uintas. The campground has nine single campsites each equipped with a picnic table and a metal fire ring and a vault toilet for basic facilities; all nine sites are listed as accommodating both RVs and tents (no hookups are listed). Sites are rated for up to 8 people and one vehicle; additional vehicles are charged separately. From here you can fish or paddle on nearby lakes, and the adjacent China Meadows Trailhead puts hikers and horseback riders onto High Uintas trails. The surrounding national forest is threaded with ATV, mountain-biking and equestrian routes, and the broader Uinta-Wasatch-Cache area supports auto touring, boating, swimming, wildlife viewing and interpretive opportunities, so China Meadows works well as a low-key basecamp for a range of outdoor pursuits. Access is rural: the campground is reached south of Mountain View, WY via State Route 410 and a lengthy oil-and-gravel forest road into the Wasatch portion of the national forest (roughly 26 miles of combined distance from Mountain View). Practical details for planning are straightforward but important: there are nine single sites and fees are paid by Cash, Check, or Scan & Pay through the recreation.gov app single campsites are $20.00, day use is $15.00, an extra vehicle is $10.00, and trailhead parking is $5.00 per vehicle. Reservations can be canceled online or through the call center; a $10 service fee is withheld from any refund for a cancellation, and late cancellations (the day before or the day of arrival) incur the $10 service fee and forfeiture of the first night's use fee (one-night reservations forfeit the entire amount paid). Changing dates that fall entirely outside the original reservation carries a $10 change fee, while extending or shortening a reservation that still includes dates from the original stay generally has no change fee; note that once a reservation date has begun it cannot be changed online. No-shows are assessed a $20 service fee and forfeit the first night's recreation fee. Interagency pass discounts are limited to specific passes (Senior Annual, Senior Lifetime, Access, Golden Age, Golden Access) and apply only to the recreation/use fee for individual campsites when the pass holder occupies the site. Refund requests can be submitted through your Recreation.gov profile within seven days of the reservation end date; card refunds are returned to the original payment card and cash/check payments are refunded by Treasury check.
