About

Perched at about 9,400 feet on the northern slope of the Uinta Mountains, Marsh Lake Campground sits beside its namesake lake between Stateline Dam and China Meadows, offering a compact high-elevation base for fishing, paddling and trail outings. The lake itself welcomes canoes, kayaks and other small watercraft from a boat ramp on the west side, and fishing docks adjacent to the ramp give anglers access to rainbow and cutthroat trout. A thin stand of lodgepole and ponderosa pine with pockets of aspen lets in plenty of sun, while summer wildflowers and grasses soften the shorelines; moose and deer are commonly seen around the water. Several multi-use routes hiking, mountain biking, horseback and off-road vehicle trails cross the surrounding country, and the nearby China Meadows Trailhead provides routes deeper into the High Uintas for longer day hikes or pack trips. The campground has 45 sites total: recreation.gov rates it as 38 single sites, 5 double sites, 1 triple site and 1 overnight tent-only group site, while facility data notes that 42 sites accommodate both RVs and tents and 3 are tent-only. Each campsite includes a picnic table, utility table and campfire ring; some sites overlook the lake. Onsite services are basic but useful drinking water, vault toilets, trash collection and a campground host and a dump station is located about 1.5 miles away across the road from Stateline. Fees are collected by cash, check or Scan & Pay with the recreation.gov app (single sites $27, double $53, triple $80, group tent site $86; day use $15; extra vehicles $10), and standard reservation rules apply: changes or cancellations incur a $10 service fee, late cancellations may forfeit the first night's use fee (and no-shows can be assessed a $20 service fee), and refund requests must be made within 14 days of departure. Access is reached from Mountain View, Wyoming by county and forest roads; Forest Road 072 is gravel and frequently very rough but is generally passable for all vehicles call (385) 273-1100 for facility-specific information before you go.
