Perched at 8,490 feet on the northern slope of the Uinta Mountains, Deadhorse Trailhead Campground is a compact, functional base for people using the Deadhorse OHV trail system and for hikers, horseback riders, and mountain bikers who want immediate trail access. The site consists of four total campsites all designated to accommodate both RVs and tents and each single site includes a picnic table and a metal fire ring; a vault restroom serves the small loop. Vegetation is a thin mix of lodgepole and ponderosa pine with stands of aspen, so shade is limited and summer wildflowers and grasses punctuate the clearings; with elevation and sparse canopy, expect cooler nights and strong sun during the day. Wildlife is active in the area (visitors have noted deer and moose nearby), and the campground's proximity to the trailhead makes it especially convenient for off-highway vehicle (OHV) outings, though the broader Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest supports a wide range of recreation everything from fishing and boating to interpretive programs, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing. Because the campground is small and directly tied to trail use, practical details matter: each of the 4 single sites is priced at $20.00 (site capacity 8 people), extra vehicles are $10.00 each, and trailhead overnight parking is $5.00 per vehicle; day-use is $15.00. Reservations and cancellations are handled through Recreation.gov: a $10.00 service fee is withheld from any refund, and cancelling the day before or on the day of arrival will incur that $10.00 fee plus forfeiture of the first night's use fee for individual campsites (one-night reservations have special forfeiture rules); no-shows are assessed a $20.00 service fee and will forfeit the first night's recreation fee. Interagency pass discounts apply only to eligible passes (Senior Annual, Senior Lifetime, Access, Golden Age, Golden Access) and only to the recreation fee for individual campsites, with the pass holder required to occupy the site. If you need a refund after a stay, request it through your Recreation.gov profile within seven days of your reservation end; transaction charges appear on statements as "Recreation.gov 877-444-6777 NM."
