“Had a great time. The campsite was clean when I got there. The restroom was also very clean.”
“Wonderful camp host. Bathrooms clean and essentially odorless. Relatively small campground with not many drive through visitors. Chance to see deer and moose from your campsite. Some of the sites are fairly sloped. No cellphone at all.”
“Fishing, weather, temperatures, camp hosts, all were excellent. Adding electricity would be a very welcome addition to the Campground. ”

North Tongue Campground sits at about 8,400 feet along the banks of the North Fork Tongue River and Big Willow Creek in the Bighorn Mountains, surrounded by stands of lodgepole pine with Engelmann spruce and Douglas fir mixed in. The campground contains 11 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents; every site includes a picnic table and a campfire ring with a grill. Essential services on site are accessible vault toilets, potable drinking water, and trash collection, and the campground host sells firewood bundles. If you plan to drive in, note that two non-towed vehicles are allowed per site the first vehicle is included in the basic fee and a second vehicle is charged $9.00 per day at the campground. The facility is administered by Gallatin Canyon Campgrounds (gccampgrounds13@gmail.com). The site is directly off the Bighorn Scenic Byway near Burgess Junction, making auto touring and biking along the byway popular day activities; from Dayton it's roughly a 29-mile drive west on U.S. Highway 14 to Burgess Junction, then a short drive on Forest Road 15/US-14A to the campground. Outdoor opportunities radiate outward: nearby Sibley Lake allows only non-motorized craft and has an accessible fishing dock where anglers pursue rainbow, brown and brook trout; the surrounding network of off-road vehicle trails and scenic jeep roads is popular with OHV users; and numerous hiking routes some that lead into the Cloud Peak Wilderness offer creekside walks and higher-elevation treks. Shell Falls Visitor Center is about 22 miles southwest and the Medicine Wheel National Historic Landmark is roughly 25 miles away; Bear Lodge and Elk View Inn nearby provide OHV rentals, fishing supplies and local dining. If you booked through recreation.gov, be aware that refund requests are assessed a $10 processing fee and that the reservation fee is non-refundable and retained by the reservation contractor.
