“Our site was adjoining to another site without any separation (not a tree or a picnic table or anything). It was uncomfortable to be so tightly packed and I was unaware that this would be the case when I made the reservation. ”
“don't like that there is grazing all around that area even up to the highest peaks in that sensitive high altitude region. cattle came thru the campground at one point due to a hole in the fence. otherwise very nice stay. ”

Bald Mountain Campground sits high on the Bighorn Range along the Medicine Wheel Passage (U.S. Highway 14A), about 33 miles east of Lovell and roughly 4 miles from the Medicine Wheel National Historic Landmark. The campground occupies a forested ridge at about 9,200 feet, where stands of pine and aspen shade small creeks that thread through the sites and evening temperatures can fall sharply once the sun sets. Hikers will find immediate trail access Jaws Trailhead is nearby, leading to Bucking Mule Falls Trail and Porcupine Creek and the surrounding forest offers a mix of open meadows, cliff-rim overlooks on the west side of the range, and remnants of historic mining activity. Off-road enthusiasts can drive Hunt Mountain Road or the Burgess Overlook jeep trail, and nearby outfitters at High Country Lodge provide guided horseback and backcountry pack trips, ORV rentals, and guided fishing for guests who want to expand beyond day hikes and car touring. Many recreational opportunities found in Bighorn National Forest hiking, fishing, horseback riding, OHV routes, auto touring and winter sports are accessible from the campground or a short drive away. The campground is small and straightforward: there are 15 sites total, each configured to accommodate both RVs and tents and equipped with a picnic table plus a campfire ring with grill. Basic services include accessible vault toilets, drinking water, and trash collection; there is no onsite dump station the nearest one is 25 miles east at Burgess Junction so RV users should plan accordingly. Two non-towed vehicles are allowed per site; the first vehicle is included in the nightly fee and a second vehicle is charged $10.00 per day (taxes included) and collected at the campground. Firewood bundles can be purchased from the campground host. Reservations are handled through the reservation service and refund requests submitted via recreation.gov incur a $10 processing fee, and the non-refundable reservation fee retained by the contractor will not be returned by the campground operator; the site is administered by Gallatin Canyon Campgrounds (office@ceicamp.com). Note that the Medicine Wheel Passage from Lovell includes a sustained 10% grade and is not recommended for RVs and motorhomes; larger rigs are advised to approach from Dayton via US-14/14A through Burgess Junction.
