“Excellent campground host and clean campground and vault toilets. ”
“This is a really nice campground. I camped in one of the walk in sites and it was quiet, clean and peaceful. The sound of the creek running through the site was very relaxing. The campground is super clean. I would definitely camp here again.”

South Fork Campground sits at about 7,800 feet on the east side of the Cloud Peak Skyway, roughly a 15-mile drive west from Buffalo along U.S. Highway 16 and then a short turn onto Forest Service Road 337. The campground occupies a stretch of lodgepole pine along the banks of South Fork Clear Creek, and its location puts you a few miles from high country access: the Circle Park Trailhead is about three miles away and opens onto a network of trails that lead to alpine lakes and two 12,000-foot peaks in the Cloud Peak Wilderness. Water recreation is close at hand Tie Hack Reservoir is nearby for canoeing and anglers can expect rainbow, cutthroat, brown and brook trout and scenic, unpaved routes like Elgin Park, Pole Creek and Crazy Woman Canyon Roads offer opportunities for off-road driving, hiking and mountain biking. Across the highway, South Fork Lodge provides dining, overnight rooms, guided horseback rides, a stocked fishing pond and a small store for last-minute supplies, so you aren't entirely self-contained if you prefer a few services close by. The campground is small and straightforward: 13 single-family sites in all, eight of which accommodate both RVs and tents while five are tent-only, and the layout and amenities are fully accessible. Each site includes a picnic table and a campfire ring with grill; vault toilets, drinking water and trash collection are provided, and firewood bundles can be purchased from the campground host. Sites allow up to two non-towed vehicles; the base fee covers the first vehicle and a second vehicle is charged $10 per day at the campground. Reservations and cancellations are handled through recreation.gov note that refund requests submitted there include a $10 processing fee and a non-refundable reservation fee retained by the reservation contractor (the campground concessionaire cannot return those contractor-retained fees). For questions or group coordination, the campground is administered by Gallatin Canyon Campgrounds (gccampgrounds13@gmail.com).
