Stockfarm Bridge Campground sits along the East Fork of the Chippewa River in a stand of red pine, where the river's meanders and the surrounding mix of pine, spruce, maple and aspen give the site a distinctly wooded, Northern Wisconsin feel. The site is on the eastern edge of what locals call the elk capital of Wisconsin and inside the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest's broad mosaic of lakes, streams and managed jack-pine stands (the forest totals roughly 845,000 acres). You reach the campground via a combination of county and forest roads north of Loretta or south of Glidden follow the signed forest roads (FR 164/163) into the area so plan for gravel driving and check current road conditions before you go. The East Fork here is a candidate wild and scenic river, and that setting shapes the campground: quiet river access for paddling and fishing and good opportunities for wildlife viewing, especially during spring and fall migrations and the hunting seasons. The campground is small and straightforward: eight sites in all seven single-family sites plus one group site that can accommodate up to 16 people and every site is set up to take either a tent or an RV. Amenities are basic but useful: a hand-pump provides potable water, there are accessible vault toilets, metal fire rings and picnic tables at each site, and trash and recycling collection is available on site. For people with motorized interests, the Dead Horse Run off-road vehicle trail (ATV/UTV) is nearby; paddlers can launch on the East Fork for canoeing or kayaking; anglers will find fishing access from shore; and hunters use the area in season. Small campgrounds like Stockfarm Bridge often operate under the Forest Service's seasonal rules and fee structures, so check the Chequamegon-Nicolet NF camping pages for up-to-date information on fees, reservations and seasonal availability before you head out.
