Jana N ★ 4 · Aug 2025The camping sites were large and flat. Easy to pull our trailer in. The campground was quiet. While there we road our UTV for 2 days. We found some nice trails. I would suggest a map of the forest roads would be very helpful when running around. We would stay at Day Lake again.
Paul S ★ 4 · Aug 2025Pretty lake. Nice quiet place to camp. Unless neighbor runs generator all weekend. Mosquitos were bad at dusk and dawn. Would have been nice to have a little info about other things in area on the bulletin boards. Great camp host even though her dog never stopped barking. Would definitely put on list of places to return(after I get to all the places I want to check out).
Marissa A ★ 5 · Aug 2025Love Day Lake!! You are secluded enough that other campers are barely ever noticed. It is usually so peaceful (as long as there aren't too many ATV's in the campground). The paths around the lake are beautiful for walking. The beach could have used a little maintenance, but it was still ok.

Day Lake Campground sits in northwestern Wisconsin, roughly a mile north of Clam Lake on Highway GG and within easy reach of Lake Superior's southern shore. The campground fronts on Day Lake, a 640-acre body of water where anglers chase musky, bass and panfish and paddlers find quiet coves for canoeing and kayaking; a public boat ramp, picnic area and swimming beach are located about two miles south on County Highway M. The site is located in what the Forest Service calls the elk capital of Wisconsin, so sightings of elk, eagles and loons are common, and a half-mile interpretive trail accessible from the campground offers a short walk through local forest types. Day Lake is also designated as an off-road vehicle campground, which means ORVs may be used to access the nearby Dead Horse Run ATV/UTV trail network; mountain biking and hiking opportunities are nearby as well, and the larger Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest supports a wide range of recreation from boating and fishing to scenic auto touring and wildlife viewing. The campground itself contains 30 total campsites, each configured to accommodate both RVs and tents, and all sites include a picnic table and a campfire ring with grill. Only the Paper Birch loop is paved; the remainder of campground roads are gravel and the parking aprons are grass or dirt. Facilities are basic but serviceable: accessible vault toilets, a hand-pump for drinking water, and centralized trash collection and recycling bins. The nearest services general store, bait shop, fuel, firewood vendor and restaurants are in Clam Lake about a mile away, and the community hosts an annual July 4th fireworks display. For up-to-date information on seasonal openings, fees and reservations, campers should consult the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest recreation pages and observe all Forest Service regulations, especially those that govern ORV use and trail access.
