Beckler River Campground sits at the forested edge of the Beckler River in the Northern Cascades, where stands of Douglas fir, western hemlock and cedar shade a compact campground that holds 27 sites. All 27 campsites are laid out to accommodate both tents and RVs, and most provide a picnic table with vault toilets located nearby; several sites sit close enough to the riverbank for easy access to the water. The setting is defined by old-growth forest and the sound of running water rather than flashy amenities views open up on clear days toward the higher Cascade peaks, including distant glimpses of snow on Mt. Baker and the surrounding, relatively undeveloped landscape supports wildlife from migratory songbirds to coyotes and pine marten. The campground is reached by driving east on US-2 from the Seattle area and turning onto Forest Road 65 for a short drive to the site; for facility-specific questions call (360) 386-8214. Recreational opportunities radiate outward from the campground: anglers and river walkers make use of the Beckler and nearby Skykomish waters, hikers and bikers tap into the 1,500 miles of trails across Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, and winter visitors use the area for skiing and snowshoeing. A nearby trailhead the Jennifer Dunn Trailhead starts the Beckler Peak Trail, which begins on an old logging road, climbs through alder and vine maple, passes old trapper-cabin remains and finishes on a ridge with expansive valley views; the Pacific Crest Trail and access to North Cascades and Mount Rainier country are also within driving distance for day trips. Campers should be aware of reservation rules before arrival: confirm current fees, seasonal availability and reservation details through Recreation.gov or the contact number above, and note that once a reservation start date has begun neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager can modify that reservation.
