“Super quiet during the week, definitely busier on the weekend. walkable to some trails and the river but would be easiest to drive if you have kids or want to picnic or anything. ”

Middle Fork Campground sits directly along the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River under a dense canopy of Douglas fir, cedar and western hemlock, offering a quiet, forested basecamp about 12 miles up SE Middle Fork Road from I-90 north of North Bend (the campground is roughly a half mile past the Middle Fork Trailhead). The site has 35 campsites that are designated for both tents and RVs campsites include picnic tables, vault toilets and drinking water, but no electrical or sewer hookups are listed so come prepared for basic, self-contained camping. A Recreation Pass is required for each vehicle parked at the trailhead, and the campground accepts reservations; note that once a reservation's start date has begun neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager can modify that reservation. For facility-specific questions call (360) 386-8214. The area is a real crossroads for outdoor activities year-round: the campground is close to trailheads for hiking, fishing stretches of the river, horseback riding corridors and summer picnicking, while winter brings good opportunities for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The popular Middle Fork Trail is a roughly 3-mile route that starts by crossing the river on the Gateway Bridge, wanders between the water and cliff faces, climbs past the 1,000-plus-foot granite ridge known locally as Stegosaurus Butte, follows an old logging railroad grade and returns to river level; it's open to hikers, horses and (on odd-numbered days) mountain bikes. The broader Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie landscape includes roughly 1,500 miles of trails, views of Mt. Baker on clear days, and wildlife such as mountain goats, coyotes, pine marten and a variety of migratory birds and native fish. Nearby cultural and interpretive options include the Verlot Public Service Center, a historic CCC complex, and access to interpretive programs in the North Cascades and Mount Rainier park areas.
