Perched along the banks of the Cispus River in the North Fork Campground, North Fork Beaver Group is a single group campsite one site total that can accommodate up to 40 people using tents and RVs. Heavily shaded by pine, fir and cedar, the site is secluded and gated, with an on-site host, potable drinking water, picnic tables, grills and firewood available for sale. The group site accepts both RVs and tents and is typically open from mid-May through late September; it's one of three group sites within the North Fork compound and is managed by the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District of Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The campground is unstaffed for general visitor service, but the main office can be reached at (360) 686-3008 for information or questions about reservations. The location is a practical base for a wide range of activities: anglers can fish the Cispus River for brook trout, steelhead and salmon, while hikers and mountain bikers can access the nearby Valley Trail and the North Fork Loop (the latter is open to foot traffic). Off-highway vehicle riders will find a network of more than 50 miles of OHV trails reachable from the Valley Trail. The site sits in a triangle of dramatic peaks Mount St. Helens, Mount Adams and Mount Rainier and is a reasonable starting point for day trips such as the Tongue Mountain Trail (summiting to 4,838 feet) or the Windy Ridge viewpoints accessed from nearby Randle. Wildlife sightings can include elk, deer and bears, so standard food storage and bear-aware practices are recommended. Practical reservation details matter here: group facility cancellations made less than 14 days before arrival incur a $10 service fee and forfeit the first night's use fee; no-shows are assessed a $20 service fee and forfeit the first night's rate, taxes and applicable add-ons. Refund requests must be submitted through your Recreation.gov profile within 7 days of your reservation end date; refunds are returned to the original payment method (cash/check refunds are issued by Treasury check and may take 6 8 weeks), and in the event of an emergency closure all fees will be refunded.
