North Fork Bear Group sits beside the Cispus River under a dense canopy of pine, fir and cedar in the North Fork Campground of Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The site is open seasonally, typically from mid-May through late September, and there is a single group campsite that can accommodate up to 25 people using tents or RVs (the site is configured for both). The group area is gated and intentionally secluded; picnic tables, grills and a potable water source are provided, a host is on-site during the season, and firewood is available for purchase. The campground is reached by heading south from Randle on Forest Road 23 for about 10 miles off Highway 12 (Randle is the closest town), and while the site itself is managed locally the main office can be reached at (360) 686-3008 for general questions. The location is well suited to mixed-use outdoor trips: mountain bikers and ORV riders can access the nearby multi-use Valley Trail and a connected network of more than 50 miles of off-road trails, while hikers can use the North Fork Loop trail for shorter walks; anglers fish the Cispus River for brook trout, steelhead and salmon. The campground sits in a landscape framed by Mount St. Helens, Mt. Adams and Mt. Rainier and is administered from the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District, which manages several wilderness areas nearby. Wildlife sightings elk, deer and bears are possible, so standard food storage and campfire precautions apply. Group reservations follow Recreation.gov policies: cancellations made less than 14 days before arrival incur a $10 service fee and the loss of the first night's fee; no-shows are charged a $20 service fee and forfeit the first night's rate plus taxes and add-ons. Refund requests must be submitted through your Recreation.gov profile within seven days after your reservation end date; emergency closures will be refunded in full.
