Hause Creek Campground sits on the banks of the Tieton River in the northern Cascades portion of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, roughly 22 miles east of Naches along Highway 12 (milepost 168.5). The surrounding landscape shifts from glaciated alpine ridgelines of the Cascade Crest to drier shrub-steppe farther east, so you'll find warm, sunny summer days ideal for river and trail work and heavy winter snowfall higher in the range. At the campsite itself, anglers and paddlers are drawn to the Tieton; river runners plan trips around the dramatic September flows when the Bureau of Reclamation releases water into the valley, producing fast, technical whitewater. Hikers can pick up local routes such as the Boulder Cave National Recreation Trail an accessible riverside walk with interpretive panels and the cave to explore or head farther afield to sections of the Pacific Crest Trail and the Goat Rocks Wilderness, where volcanic peaks and mountain goats define higher terrain. The broader forest also supports biking, climbing, equestrian travel, hunting, winter sports and wildlife viewing, so Hause Creek works well as a basecamp for a wide range of outdoor pursuits. The campground is a simple, self-sufficient stop: there are 38 campsites in total, 33 that accommodate both RVs and tents and 5 tent-only sites, and none of the sites provide electrical service or potable water, so you should arrive with sufficient water and supplies. Standard campsite fees apply and an extra vehicle fee of $8 is charged if you bring more than one vehicle. Reservations and day-to-day management follow Recreation.gov rules cancellations made more than two days before arrival incur a $10 cancellation fee; cancelling the day before or the day of arrival carries a $10 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night's fee (including tax and any add-ons), and one-night reservations cancelled will forfeit the entire payment. No-shows are charged a $20 service fee and forfeit the first night's rate, and staff will hold a site only until check-out time on the day after your scheduled arrival. Refund requests must be submitted through your Recreation.gov profile within seven days after the reservation end date; card refunds are credited to the original payment method, while check or cash refunds are issued by mailed Treasury check (which can take 6 8 weeks). This location has limited staffing call (661) 702-1420 for general information or questions before you go.
